Les Etangs d’Or

Ponds, fauna and flora

Les Etangs d’Or, Eco Leisure Park of Merceuil Tailly, welcomes you to its 500 acres site with 16 ponds, 12 of which are dedicated to fishing and discovering nature.

The paths, in part created by the National Landscape School of Versailles allow alternating sun and shade and offer easy and accessible routes with no significant slopes.

The paths, in part created by the National Landscape School of Versailles allow alternating sun and shade and offer easy and accessible routes with no significant slopes.
The students have chosen to highlight this green landscape by showing the human effect on nature by dropping here and there on the paths abandoned tyres, old TV screens or empty bottles. This is a reminder of the history of these old gravel pits, used to build the A6 motorway in the 70’s, then abandoned for 30 years, turning into fishing ponds, but also unfortunately into a fly-tipping site.

Take a deep breath and take in the view

Along our sometimes sunny and sometimes shaded path, anyone can go for a pastoral and educational wander and discover the fauna and flora in this preserved natural site.

With dedicated observatories and explanatory panels, you will have time to contemplate exceptional biodiversity with many bird species (dwarf bittern, bitterns, kingfishers, coots, etc.) and local wildlife (wild boars, roe deer, badgers, foxes, hares) and learn more about them.

You can picnic in style on one of the many tables and let your children run and play in the dedicated play area.

People with reduced mobility are welcome on the site. Some picnic tables and fishing pontoons have wheelchair access.
